Resident and Facility Facts
- Grossman Center provides monitoring and transitional services for 150 males and females who are serving up to the last six months of their sentences.
- Offenders may also be direct commitments who are designated to serve their entire term of confinement at Grossman Center, or are referred for placement due to conditional requirements of their supervision or bond.
- Residents on Federal Pre-Trial status may be designated to remain at the center during the completion of the court process.
- Newly placed offenders are subject to a highly structured environment. As treatment and rehabilitation goals are achieved, they earn the privilege of decreased structure.
- Assignments to the center are made through contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and United States Probation and Pre-Trial services.
- Security measures include 24-hour custodial supervision, frequent census checks and closed circuit cameras.Within the community, offenders are monitored by staff through random calls to homes and job sites, as well as through urinalysis and alcohol tests to detect illegal use.
Key Services
The following voluntary programs and services help prepare residents to return to their local communities and provide for their well being while at the facility.
- Drug and alcohol aftercare by licensed Substance Abuse Counselors provide substance abuse and addiction counseling services
- Life skills training is provided in anger and stress management, parenting, suicide prevention, sexual abuse/assault intervention, personal hygiene, budgeting, transition, and securing housing.
- Offenders have access to computers to assist in developing a resume, GED testing and learning and improving keyboarding skills.
- Employment assistance and training includes resume writing, job search strategies, application assistance, interview techniques and career fairs.
- Home confinement is offered to eligible residents for the last 10% of offender sentences. Offenders must adhere to program restrictions of daily telephone contact and semi-weekly visits to the facility. The majority of these offenders are subjected to electronic monitoring during this phase of confinement.
- Eligible offenders receive a pass to attend religious services and verified activities in the community.
